Ms. Rebecca Newburn has been a math and science educator for over 20 years. She is interested in using permaculture principles to create resources for both teachers, students and her community. She is the Co-founder and Coordinator of Richmond Grows Seed Lending Library, a non-profit that provides free seeds and education on seed saving, located in the Richmond Public Library. The seed library was created as a replicable model and over 25 other communities have opened libraries based on the model based on the “Create a library” resources on the Richmond Grows’ site. She is a charter member of the Richmond Rivets, a transition town initiative in the City of Richmond, California, where she lives. Both the seed lending library and the 2 Steps a Month to Emergency Preparedness are programs of the Richmond Rivets and can and have been easily replicated in other communities.
